Berat Bebanku.. Meninggalkan mu..

Today is the happiest day of my life.

My girlfriend, Sabrina and a new found friend, HArlina, along with Sabrina's younger sister, were at YMCA centre today. As I was late, both HArlina and Sabrina were waiting for me at the MAc's ice cream stall outside the Shaw House in Orchard Road. As I has spoken before to Harlina about the job recommendation, it was my first time meeting her in person.

HArlina is good friend of Sabrina when she was in the COS class. Harlina is a bubbly, cheerful, always talking crap, and cracking jokes. When you put Sabrina and Harlina together, Wham!!

Disaster begins...

During the walk to YMCA centre in Somerset area, I was somewhat reserved and quiet at the same time. Both of them were always chatting together, I could only catch snippets of their conversation and needless to say, I was bewildered when they turned their attention to me for my opinion.

We dropped by at Burger King to eat our lunch. Form there , i began to open up with HArlina. She always cracked jokes which really made me laugh. At long last, we reached YMCA centre. The centre was buzzing with activities when we stepped inside it.
We headed for the lift, and almost intended to go up the floors when Sabrina decided to call her younger sister, Anna (her nickname). Tired from all the walking, we sat down at the tables set up. People were walking around, promoting the dance classes. At the audithorium, a number of free dance classes were being conducted. sabrina asked a guy whether we could go inside the audithorium.

We did, and just in time for the starting of a new dance class. (Dance funk) The instructor invited the audience to get up and also learn how to dance funk. when we heard that, Sabrina immediately nudged and encouraged me to join the free dance trial. I tried to drag Sabrina along, but she refused. I kicked off my sandals, and joined it after minutes of hesitation. (By then, it was halfway.)

I tried to absorb the dance moves as fast as I could. I followed the timing, and could get the hang after a few tries. Little did I know, Sabrina had brought up her K700i phone and videotaped me dancing in action. I did it for the first half of the chereography session, but as the instructor added more moves, I was getting nervous. that's where I began to make mistakes. But I enjoyed myself during the whole session.

Shortly after that, the next dance session, Salsa came up. Our attention were grabbed by the dancng couple who immediately salsa during the music. After ten minutes, Sabrina and HArlina decided to join the session, straightaway after they taught the moves. They managed to get it, and also Sabrina asked me to videotape them dancing. As we waited for the music to begin, I was standing around, laughing along with them as they practised.

Much to my surprise, a tanned, tall chinese guy came up to me, asking me whether he could take the chance to dance with me. I was ataken surprise, but I agreed. both Sabrina and HArlina stopped what they were doing, and Sab took back the phone.

He took the chance to promote his course, taking the folder with him and opened up to the course schedule.
"Have you heard of Lindy hop?" he asked.
My eyes lighted up when I heard that.
"Yeah, I did."
"how did you get to know about it?"
"Actually, some of them performed in my school during the Orientation period. It was very, very nice." I gushed.
"Which school are you from?"
"ITE Clementi."
He nodded his head in agreement.
" I just like lindy hop. the dance moves, the shoes, you know? and seriously it was really very, very nice." I realy gushed again.
" Did you know I performed at your school?"
"Really? No wonder you looked familiar."
we beamed at each other. We looked at the instructors again, and then laughed together as the music began.
" we didn't pay attention to them."

we chitchatted as we practised. and it was really interesting. In the end, I recalled that I liked the performance and actually had a little crush on him. and today i actually got the chance to dance together with him!!

Wah.. so shiok..

I grabbed the chance to pose with him for a photo, and I got it!!

Very happy today...

I was sitting here surfing the net when this guy came into our corridor promoting dis newsletter. he held over the gate and spoke to me, since I was the nearest person. I went up to him and took this newsletter and exclaimed in surprise when I recognised the votee in the pix.

Suddenly, he stopped talking and sum1 took over him. imagine my surprise when the very person he was talking about appeared in front oof me in person!! haha.. i got stoned shocked for a while there.. i believe he saw my face go oh?

he was really grateful for the support i was giving for him and he shook my hand for a while.. trice actually.

i could feel that my hand was turning cold. but it was not the fact I meet a political person, it was
because I was wearing

4PM Volunteers Tribute

Aie?? it seems like my style to reflect on events that happened a day ago..

what else should I say about today? I guess that today is a pretty alrite day for me, and there's lots of laughter around at the end of the day as we SQI staff joked around, or tease our usual target, Grace. Now don't get me wrong. We aren't bad. but the way I see Grace and her behaviour, i believe that she's the kind of person who needs a lot of friends and attention. (Not to mention love.) being denied that in her family and also she's the type that doesn't go out much with friends, always working hard till late. We always on the thought to try to help her, giving her suggestions to improve herself. But it takes time. hopefully she does, bit by bit.

ok. let me recall about the event that happened yesterday. if you happen to see my previous blog, i had a pretty tiring day on Saturday. So needless to say, I woke up late on Sunday Morning, with only 48 mins to our appointed time wif Sabrina, Yaya and Halil. I rushed tru the morning routine, and worried endlessly that i'm going to be seriously late. (Pls note the journey is 1 hr long..)

I did.

wow, I had to admit that Sab was really sexy on that day, and I couldn't believe it. she was wearing this light green lace blouse, wif a long white shawl and jeans. She's a knockout. I'm sure that every guy who walked past us took a second glance at her .

anywae, we walked with a couple, ( a pioneer batch of 4PM volunteers) Halil, Yaya and a gurl whom I recognised her face but neva knew her name. ( i believe she was studying at Clementi ITE too) duh.. typical of me.. We walked, no, strolled along Beach Road to a hotel, with a name that is diff. to pronounce. ( i conveniently forget.. hee..)

We walked into a luxurious, elegant dining hall. Far right is the stage, and at the sides of the hall stood the buffet. the food was absolutely delicious, like the marinated chicken wings, the carrot cake, not to mention the deserts; the mini fruit tartlet, mini cakes, mango pudding.. the list is endless.

we greeted some of the familiar faces whom i know, ppl like Kak Sa'adah, Diana, Asryna, Boy, Shafiq, Shafiq Tinggi and Sabri. and I saw my friend whom i met during the Ramadan On Wheels. I happened to sit at table 18, while he, table 14 just besides ours. I noticed him first but decided to stay in my seat.

During Mr Yaacob Ibrahim's speech, he spotted me, and waved at me. I did the same, and I mouthed my greeting at him.

When the MC announced that it was time for us to fill our stomach, the dining hall became alive with laughter. you could blame it on us, since we're the noisiest ppl there, taking the apportunity to pose for pixs. haha.. you could see that we're famous for posing for pixs..

After the awards were given out, Mr Yaacob decided to mingle with the participants. As he went further and further from our table, the guys made noise. I had to shake my head at them for attracting their attention lol..

I got the chance to chat with Mr Yaacob, along with Sabrina. He asked us what are we doing right now.. working or studying. He talked with Sabrina first.
She became a bit blur when he asked her that qn. She was working in Kino, a jap bookstore outlet. and he also asked her what are her plans in the future. She mentioned she would be studying in Ngee Ann Poly soon this year.

When he turned his attention to me, he asked me the same questions. he looked a bit shocked when I told him about my background and where I am doing now. my answer to his second qn was this, I planned to study private.

I will always remember his words:

always do what you want to do, coz in the end, you will benefit from your hard work. Good luck to both of you. my heart felt warmth from this encouragement.

Meanwhile, we erupted into bursts of laughter as they joked about their prizes.. (Ahmad was the unlucky guy. The MC proclaimed that he won a Samsung SGH800 fone, but when he tore out the wrapping. guess what? he won a....

iron.

that really made our day.

reflecting on 8 jan 2005 events..

alamak, I blogged here a day too late, but i hope that i won't forget the events that happened yesterday.

okie.. yesterday is the day where me and hajjar hung out together. In the morning, i logged into msn, only to find hajjar and Millie online. I chatted with Millie for a while, since she had to go off and go to bugis with her mom. meanwhile, I chatted with Hajjar, and there we decided to hang out at bugis in the afternoon. it turned out that both of us were late, despite we promised that we would be there early or on time. ( all talk but no action) hee..

Hajjar met me at Bugis arcade, where I was playing my fave game, Time Crisis II. i arrived there earlier so i decided to wander myself to that place. (lol..)

she definitely looked different, having decided to wear tudung and her clothing also changed. but i dunno whether her decision to wear it is permanent or not. after i "died" in the game, we headed to the japanese neoprint shop, and my gosh.. it was totally crowded with ppl, from students, to ppl like us. Hajjar wanted to have the card version, so we went in search for the machine. i came back and forth to change the money into notes, as the assistant only wanted notes, instead of syillings. we could not find the design that we wanted, we made do with the others. I had no blinking idea how to pose for the pics, but she came up with the ideas. I played along with her, while both of us burst out in laughter when we selected the pix among the 3 pixs. we bumped into 2 malay guys, and one of them stared at me, giving me goosebumps. you know why? they were dressed shabbily, and the staring guy had a pierced bottom lip. yikes...

next, on our agenda: to shop for Hajjar's sister item. A Mambo bag @ Seiyu Bugis. to our disappointment, we could find the bag that she liked in her preffered colours. I asked a saleslady whether they do have stock of that item, but our attempt turned out to be furtile. we left the shop, despite the endless apologies and her suggestions to try at other branches at Lot 1 or Bishan.

We stepped out of Seiyu Bugis, crossed the road, and found ourselves caught in the rain. Hajjar's cuzzin had asked her in doubt, whether she still decided to go to East Coast, since the Simei Area is raining earlier. but i took the chance, and headed to East Coast. My risk turned out to be great. Even though MArine Parade is still damp from the aftermath of the rain, it is ok to go there. We dropped by at NTUC for some titbits and i bought some sushi. (Yum!! They were delicious, though.) we rested for a while at a table near the seaside, and headed to MAc's for a rest and to continue our discussion. ( I won't elaborate on that, heee...) we stayed there for a quite long time, and i spotted this chinese guy staring when I was daydreaming or thinking about sad thoughts. ( my face expression changed to a bit of sad face.) he was adorable, but still..

we continued our discussion outside the MAc's and sat ourselves on the bench, with a group of malay guys (surfers) glancing at us every now and then. as i sat facing them, I noticed that we laughed out really loud, thus attracting their attention. we talked non-stop during our day, enjoying the sea breeze and the occasional glimpse of guys surfing the waves in front of us.

we went hysterical with laughter, and couldn't stop laughing.

I realised that Hajjar and I had so much in common. we could click together.

we went home at Geylang first, before eating our supper at MAc's again and Hajjar sent me off.

the day is filled with laughter, and it is a day that i certainly would not forget.

resolutions?

IS there any resolutions in your mind you plan to do but never did last year? well, 2005 is the right time to start..

I asked my good friend, Sabrina, this question.. What is 2004 like for you?

she paused for a while, and then said this. it has been a good year for her, but she could never forget the darkest times or period of time she went through. it was the hardest for her to move on, encourage others or her loved ones to continue what they have always been doing and not to give up. She faced obstacles on her own, but she continued in her quest. I admired her strong will in her..

As for me, the hardest thing that I had to accept abt life is all the good things will come to an end. all the things that you have loved with your heart, you can't let go just like that. and tears come to my eyes typing this.

the significant events that happened in my life are:

1) getting closer to my classmates during our last outing in Sentosa when I brght fried mee for them to eat.. (when I am not even close to them earlier)

2) Meeting Rebecca and the other friends like Ryan, Kok Yen, Sir Oon..

3) volunteering myself to lead a dance grp with no head or tail to begin wif..

4) and came up with most creative or improvised dance item with the limited resources.

5) getting into hospital with an eye infection (it has scarred me mentally until now)

6) finding out what are my true friends in life are..

7) and found the tight friendship bond that all of us share during the hard times..

8) the period of time where I need to accept that they were doing their own things.

9) toughened my will and my determination to work and continue studying.

10) to work wif diff. ppl.

11) and raise my level of standards

12) find new friends thru RSP.

13) and find myself enduring this heartache as I has to decide btw 2 choices.

14) and wld happen

What's next?

Maybe the start of 2005 is the tunnel of the darkest period of the year, as I struggle to make my choices and also to live with the consequences of the actions.

Is there a light out there? why does the things that I want are out of my reach or the hardest to make as i sacrifice some things?

Can't I have both?
